Unemployment benefits ending for millions
This is bad news to anyone who is receiving extended or emergency unemployment benefits around the country.
On Dec. 28, approximately 1.3 million out-of-work Americans will lose their unemployment benefits. That is on the grounds that Congress declined to reestablish a crisis support program for the jobless that is set to lapse that day.
This could still possibly change: Senate Democrats have said they’ll return promptly January and attempt to reestablish the Emergency Unemployment Compensation program for an alternate year, which might require harshly $25.2 billion. Anyway if that exertion falls flat, the country’s wellbeing net for the unemployed will contract essentially in 2014.
